Got a Lemur in my pocket (baby its ready to roar)

I have big hopes for the iPhone SDK in the area of music creation. I've tried a few of the jailbroken music apps, mostly Moo Cow Music's Guitarist, Drummer and Pianist aps, and so far while extremely fun they have had little practical application (though Austria's iBand might disagree). What really excites my is the use of the iPhone/iPod Touch as a multi-touch controller for applications like Logic, Reason and, as shown above, Ableton Live!

The application called i3L is based on Masayuki Akamatsu's work that uses the iPhone to send OSC messages to Max/MSP, one of the most versatile music software platforms around, and a favourite of folks like Autechre, Aphex Twin and Radiohead. I've used it a bit myself mainly with my AudioCubes, as it is the platform that Bert Schiettecatte built the controllers on.

However much fun it is to mess around and program things for yourself, there is a lot to be said for simply switching something on that works and does all the heavy lifting for you, and that's why I'm looking forward to seeing proper multitouch integration into things like Live!
