Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle

Just finished watching "Dave Chappelle's Block Party", or to be more exact, arrived back in Dublin with the Very Understanding Girlfriend at four this afternoon, took over an hour to get from the airport to our place in a taxi, had a bite to eat and collapsed on a couch in desperate need of relaxation and mild entertainment. "Bock Party" was great. It was an interesting choice of Chappelle to pick Michel Gondry to direct, but it really worked. What comes across most is Chappelle's genuine love of the music and artists that perform. Seeing him in rehearsals or off stage on the night, rapping along to every word, gives a more intimate portrait of the man than any interview could capture.

Tomorrow is going to be a pretty crazy day, with an evening out with my sisters that threatens to include karaoke, and a caucus in Nevada and Republican Primary in South Carolina (neither of which involve my sisters). With both events I'm sure I'll have something better to blog about*, but for now I am just glad to be home and get to sleep in my own bed.

*Unfortunately I know once karaoke and beer is involved it will all end with a very messy, but lyrically accurate, rendition of "Ice Ice Baby". Coincidentally and somewhat unsurprisingly Vanilla Ice was not invited to appear on "Block Party". He was not missed.
