Finland, Finland, Finland. Finland has it all.

We had a great visit from our favourite Finns, Joanna and Toni, and our amazing godson Toivo. I normally despise children, with a great passion; more accurately I despise parents as they are solely responsible for the screaming balls of misery that are normally inflicted upon me on long flights, or in queues, or in restaurants, or within a 100 meter radius at moments that should otherwise be tranquil and sublime.

Toivo is different, he is amazing. He is without doubt the best baby in the world, ever. I spent most of the five days that they were over trying to get as much time carrying him, rocking him, feeding him whisky (only Midleton, nothing but the best for my Godson) and generally spending as much quality time with him as possible. We went to Newgrange, the Hill of Tara, the Guinness Storehouse, the Jameson Distillery, a walking tour of Dublin conducted by my good self and took the time to visit my grandparents and The Very Understanding Girlfriend's family - all in all a fairly representative visit to Ireland. The Finns had a good time, and it was great to see them so soon after we were in Helsinki.

The best thing about having a Godson? You can give him back at the end of the day to his real parents, and get a great night's sleep.
